A look at the contents of Urban History Review

I recently took some time to do a review of the contents of the Urban History Review journal which has been publishing articles and research notes since its first issue in 1972 "in either English or French which further our understanding of Canada's urban past". You might suspect there probably hasn't been much of specific interest or relevance to Canadian military history. You'd be right. But, there have been a few articles of note: Jill Wade, "Wartime Housing Limited, 1941-1947: Canadian Housing Policy at the Crossroads", vol. xv, no. 1 (June 1986); Carman Miller, "The Montreal Militia as a Social Institution before World War I", vol. xix, nos. 1-2 (June, October 1990); P. Whitney Lackenbauer, "Partisan Politics, Civic Priorities, and the Urban Militia: Situating the Calgary Armoury, 1907-1917", vol. xxxiii, no. 2 (March 2005); and Matthew Evenden, "Lights Out: Conserving Electricity for War in the Canadian City, 1939-1945", vol. xxxiv, no. 1 (October 2005).

Hi there, Ken !!! I have accidentaly bumped into your blog, accidentaly, because I focus myself mainly on the Toronto condos , anyway, your post have interested me. As I try to be not only a real estate agent, but also understand the long-term development of the development of Canadian housing. This is a great tip for me though. Is it reachable via JSTOR? I wonder if the journal is still active as their human potencial should be rich dealing with that kind of topics. Today, I have the impression the only thing one can reach to read are primarily figures, graphs and all kinds of forecasts... Titles you propose are pretty attiring, well, maybe it is the right time to finally join my free time and work, haha ;) Cheers,
